Google LogoGoogle is opening up its Docs hosted office productivity suite so that users can store any type of file in it. Docs users will be able to store all their important files in a single place online, where they can access them from anywhere and share them with other people, according to Google. Just because users will be able to store all file types on Google Docs doesn't mean that they will be able to work on those files on the Docs cloud. Google will also be lifting the limit on storage capacity.

Microsoft won't fix Windows 7 crash bug just yet
Written by Gregory Feathers

Microsoft Windows LogoMicrosoft said it will deliver a single security update on Tuesday January 12, 2010 to patch just one vulnerability in Windows. The expected update will patch a vulnerability rated "critical" -- Microsoft's most serious rating in its four-step scoring system -- in Windows 2000.

Microsoft said that it does not yet have a fix for a crippling bug in Windows 7 that went public nearly two months ago when it was first reported by Canadian researcher Laurent Gaffie Nov. 11, 2009. According to Gaffie, exploiting the flaw crashes Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 systems so thoroughly that the only recourse is to manually power off the computers.

Acer Laptop

Acer America Corporation has recalled about 22,000 laptop computers.

An internal microphone wire under the palm rest can short circuit and overheat. This poses a potential burn hazard to consumers.

The computer's screen size is about 13.3 inches measured diagonally. Not all units are affected. Consumers should contact Acer to determine if their unit is included in the recall.

Consumers should stop using the recalled notebook computers immediately and contact Acer to determine if their notebook is affected and to receive a free repair.
